Hawai'i

Makapu'u Point Lighthouse

We recently spent a week on the island of Oahu, starting on the North Shore, circling East to Kaneohe Bay, and ending our trip in Honolulu. We were hard pressed to find a blemish on the entire island, finding the fabled paradise we had always heard about from friends around every turn.

In terms of photography, as you'll see, it was like being a kid in a candy store. Post-card-worthy picture after picture, and that's not a review of my own skill but rather the subject. There are stages at which a photographer, at any level, slowly gains more and more confidence. This one definitely did good things towards that. Here are some of the highlights!

A helicopter ride for the ages. You'll recognize this view from Jurassic Park.

I felt like we had stepped into Kung Fu Panda when we happened upon the The Byodo-In Temple, off of Kahekili Highway in Kaneohe.

The sun rises were just epic!

Our view from our room in Kaneohe Bay.

Did I mention the sunrises?

This was a gorgeous experience. We have only travelled a relatively long distance for a wedding once before (drove to Memphis from Columbus, OH), and many times those trips are more of a chore that you do out of love. We're so thankful that we had to do this chore :) Not only was it for some of the best friends we have, it was without a doubt one of the most gorgeous trips ever.
